FAW launches Integrity E-Learning Portal
Since the commencement of the 2014/15 season, the Football Association of Wales (FAW) has committed to an ambitious Integrity Programme with the aim of educating all our key stakeholders with regard to the threat of betting related match-fixing.
As well as updating the Rules & Regulations in relation to betting, the FAW has undertaken a series of educational workshops aimed at raising awareness of this important topic.
During the 2014/15 season, workshops took place with all first team and youth team players at the 12 Welsh Premier League clubs. In addition, FAW staff and elite referees & assistant referees have also received the integrity training.
The 2015/16 season has seen the completion of workshops at all 32 clubs at Level 2 of the Welsh Football Pyramid – covering players and club officials at the 16 clubs in the Huws Gray Alliance League and the 16 clubs in the Welsh League Division 1.
When it comes to safeguarding the game in Wales, the FAW as well as UEFA, firmly believe that education is the best form of prevention and as such the next stage in the FAW’s Integrity Programme is the introduction of an e-learning tutorial aimed at all players at Welsh Premier League clubs.
This online tutorial has been developed by the FAW’s integrity partners, Sportradar and is launching today (2 November). The tutorial is mandatory for all Welsh Premier League first team and youth team players to complete within 30 days.
FAW Integrity Manager Steven Jones stated that: “In recent years the FAW has made huge strides in order to ensure that the integrity of Welsh football remains intact.
“Education is the key to ensuring that this happens and this e-learning platform is the latest initiative we, in partnership with our integrity partners Sportradar, have developed for the benefit of all our stakeholders”.
